Plan B Rejected. Republicans regroup to find a funding bill ‘plan C’

The House rejected a Republican plan to stave off a government shutdown on Thursday, hours after GOP members crafted a new spending proposal and President-elect Trump endorsed it.

The first plan, a bipartisan effort, went down in flames when it was opposed by many members and Trump.

Ahead of the vote, Democrats called the GOP plan “laughable.”

Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) handling of the end-of-year spending deal has thrown his future into uncertain territory ahead of a critical Jan. 3 Speaker vote. Trump and Elon Musk put heat on the Speaker when they publicly lobbied on Wednesday against the first plan.

Trump expressed his support for the new deal, calling for lawmakers to vote in favor of the funding stopgap, which omits certain language regarding a Congress pay raise and other measures.

Republicans are incompetent. Just find out what the 38 Republicans want Mr. Johnson. Before the floor vote. Does he not know his members? Scalise not keeping count?

Democrats voted to shut down the government.
Johnson is a failure and needs to be replaced. Let Trump pick the next Speaker.

He seems like a nice guy. At least he likes Trump (from what I see).

Next Speaker should be someone like Newt Gingrich.

Not a bad idea. It’d give him something to do while Elon and trump run the country.

That approach won’t work until Jan 20th. Anything Johnson gets passed has to go through Schumer/Biden.

I have an idea. How about we give the taxpayers of America a 5 week break from these non-essential government services. If there are any government services who depend on paychecks then they should go get real jobs and leave public service to those who can act like public servants. Too many elected & non-elected people in government start feeling entitled. What we need is volunteers who are proud to serve their country.

What should we do when the country wakes up in 5 weeks from now and sees that we’re better off without so many whiny crybabies fleecing the system? We can mostly extend the holiday for the taxpayers and mostly stick with a federal system of people who are really volunteering to serve the people & not these swamps of self-important selfish entitled aristocratic bureaucrats. Those whiners should go get real jobs.
