Pokemon Go Bug Out event guide

This year’s Bug Out event will bring a ton of content to Pokemon Go, including the debut of Gen 8’s Sizzlipede and Centiskorch, as well as the return of Kleavor, Shiny Venipede, and a lot more.

The Bug Out event is one of the Pokemon Go celebrations that is repeated annually and – as its name suggests – focuses on the franchise’s insect-type creatures.

This year, the spotlight will fall on the debut of Galar’s Fire/Bug-type Sizzlipede and its evolution, Centiskorch. Additionally, the elusive Kleavor will return to Raids, many Shiny bugs will appear in the wild, and awesome bonuses will be active for all players to enjoy.

Bug Out event: Date & time

Pokemon Go’s Bug Out event will run from Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM until Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time as part of the current Might and Mastery season.

This means players will have enough days to get the newcomer Sizzlipede and evolve it while also hunting for some of the Shiny bugs.

Pokemon debuts

As mentioned before, this year’s Bug Out event will include the debut of Gen 8’s Sizzlipede and its evolution, Centiskorch.

These Fire/Bug-type creatures are quite well known since when they were introduced into the franchise in Pokemon Sword & Shield, Centiskorch was one of the few with the Gigantamax ability – which is as striking as powerful.

Wild encounters

These are the Pokemon that will spawn in the wild more frequently during the event:

• Caterpie*
• Weedle*
• Wurmple*
• Nincada*
• Venipede*
• Dwebble*
• Joltik*
• Grubbin*
• Dewpider*
• Nymble*
• Cutiefly*

Pokemon marked with an (*) can appear as Shiny.

Raids

The following Pokemon will appear in Raids during the Bug Out event:

1-Star Raids

• Scyther*
• Nincada*
• Sizzlipede

3-Star Raids

• Beedrill*
• Scizor*
• Kleavor*

Niantic

Event bonuses

Here are all the bonuses trainers will be able to enjoy during the five days:

• x2 XP for successfully catching Pokemon with Nice Throws or better.
• Increased Candy for Nice Throws or better.
• Increased chance of getting Candy XL for Nice Throws or better – only for trainers level 31 and up.
• Lure Modules will attract Sizzlipede during the event.
• Increased chance to encounter Shiny Wurmple and Shiny Venipede.
• If enough Pokemon are caught with help from a single Lure Module, additional Pokemon will appear near the lured PokeStop.

Field Research Task

Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available, and players who manage to complete them will get incredible rewards, including Mega Energy, Scatterbug Candy, and extra encounters with event-themed Pokemon.

Timed Research

A free Timed Research opportunity will be available in the game for all trainers. Some of the rewards that can be earned by completing it include:

• x1 Lure Module
• Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
• Encounters with Shedinja, Sizzlipede, and Kleavor

Keep in mind that – as with every Timed Research – this one ends, so the tasks must be completed, and the rewards must be claimed before Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time.

Paid Timed Research

Trainers taking part in the Bug Out event can access an event-exclusive Timed Research for US$ 2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).

Completing the tasks will earn players:

• x1 Lure Module
• x2 Premium Battle Pass
• Extra encounters with event-themed Pokemon
• Encounters with Heracross, Sizzlipede, and Kleavor

The Paid Timed Research tickets can be purchased and gifted to other players. However, to do so, you must have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher.

As the free Timed Research, this one also expires. The tasks should be completed and the rewards claimed before the event ends on March 30, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time.

Avatar Items

New Avatar Items will be added to the in-game store, and players can purchase them as soon as the event kicks off up until it ends.

Collection Challenges

During the Bug Out days, event-themed Collection Challenges will be available for all trainers.

Complete catch-and Evolution-focused Collection Challenges to receive Stardust, XP, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon.

PokeStop Showcases

As with most events, PokeStop Showcases will be taking place in different PokeStops, so search for them to enter event-themed competitions.
