Heavy fog and poor visibility have forced a Taiwan-bound flight of HK Express, the budget arm of Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways, to return to the city on Friday evening.
Flight UO180, originally scheduled to land at Taichung International Airport at around 7.50pm on Friday, returned to Hong Kong later in the evening “due to the unfavourable weather condition,” an airline spokeswoman told the Post on Saturday, citing heavy fog.
No one was injured on the aborted flight.
The plane landed at the Hong Kong International Airport at 8.46pm on Friday, and was rescheduled to depart again at noon on Saturday, she added.
“HK Express has notified all affected passengers of the flight schedule changes and is providing them with necessary assistance. The safety of our passengers and crew members is our utmost priority. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate our passengers’ patience and understanding,” the airline said in a statement.
As a result of the rescheduling, flight UO183 from Taichung to Hong Kong is also rescheduled to depart on Saturday at 2.20pm Hong Kong time under the flight number UO183D.
