A fan-favorite Walmart item is being pulled from distribution centers after an unusual oily substance was found contaminating its packaging.
The recall affects four-packs of Great Value Hawaiian Rolls after the manufacturer discovered an 'oily and sticky substance' on the packaging's direct food-contact surface, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA did not specify what the substance was, only stating that it was found on the finished product's packaging.
In total, 10,447 cases of the rolls were impacted by the contamination issue.
The product was never sold to customers but was distributed in 26 states, including New York, Texas and Florida.
Because these aren't products already for sale, the Hawaiian Roll recall is not listed on Walmart's website and doesn't require any action from customers.
Online, the retail giant describes the bread product as having a 'sweet, buttery taste with a soft and rich texture that adds complex flavors to any sandwich or slider you make.'
They're listed for $1.74 for a pack of four rolls.

Several other products from Walmart were recalled in recent months, including 'Funkee Monkee' squishy toys manufactured by The Orb Factory.
US safety regulators warned the products may contain fibrous tremolite asbestos, a dangerous material linked to serious respiratory illnesses and cancer and issued a nationwide recall of more than 121,000 toys.
A few weeks prior, the FDA issued an urgent recall for pizza sold at Walmart and Aldi over a deadly Salmonella risk.
Great Value pizzas sold at Walmart included in the recall were the thin-crust chicken bacon ranch and the stuffed-crust chicken bacon ranch.
Officials said the concern stems from dry milk powder used in the products, which may have been contaminated with Salmonella.
At the time, a Walmart spokesperson said that the health and safety of its customers is 'always a top priority.'
'We have issued a sales restriction and removed this product from our impacted stores,' the spokesperson added. 'We are working with the supplier to investigate.'

In life-threatening yet rare cases, Salmonella can lead to infections in the brain, bones, joints, heart lining or urinary system. This could lead to severe complications like meningitis, osteomyelitis, endocarditis or even sepsis.
Severe complications are most dangerous for vulnerable people, including young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
In these cases, patients require intravenous antibiotics, fluids and close medical monitoring to fight the systemic infection and prevent life-threatening organ failure.
