The Prince of Wales held a telephone call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Monday afternoon.
The conversation marks their first exchange since the former Bank of England governor assumed office.
According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, the pair spoke about the "enduring strength" of ties between Britain and Canada.
William's "longstanding affection" for the country and its people was also a topic of discussion during the call.
Mr Carney, who became leader of the Liberal Party in March 2025, previously served as governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England before entering politics.
Canada holds a special place in William's heart, not least because it was the first overseas destination he and Catherine chose following their wedding in April 2011, when the couple embarked on an extensive tour of the country.
The King, who serves as Canada's head of state, travelled there alongside Queen Camilla in May of last year.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace confirmed the details of today's exchange in an official statement: "This afternoon, the Prince of Wales spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney.
"This was the first conversation between the pair since the Prime Minister took office."
The statement added: "During the call, they discussed the enduring strength of the UK-Canada relationship, as well as the Prince of Wales' longstanding affection for Canada and its people."
As heir to the throne, William is understood to regularly reach out to heads of government around the world, cultivating relationships and establishing rapport with leading international figures.
