CV NEWS FEED // A new pro-life organization is mailing postcards depicting fetal development to residents of Nebraska, where both pro-life and pro-choice referendums are on the ballot.
According to a press release from the organization, Life Cards, the postcard states that life begins when 23 chromosomes from a man and 23 chromosomes from a woman join at the moment of conception.
It also depicts an unborn baby at 6 weeks, 13 weeks, 20 weeks, and 40 weeks, including the developmental milestones at each of those stages. A 6-week-old unborn child has a heartbeat; at 13 weeks, he has bones and all of its organs, at 20 weeks, he has taste buds and is beginning to move, and at 40 weeks, he is ready for birth.
The back of the postcard reads: “When a woman needs money abortion does not pay her bills. When a woman needs healthcare abortion does not relieve her pain. When a girl/woman is raped abortion does not heal the trauma. When a girl/woman is raped abortion does not help her escape.”
It concludes, “Women don’t need abortion. They need real help.”
The postcards also include resources like a 24/7 pregnancy helpline, a website to find local pregnancy help organizations, and a website for post-abortive healing.
The directory for pregnancy help organizations (PHO) states, “PHOs in Nebraska include pregnancy help centers (PHCs), maternity homes, adoption agencies, and non-profit life-affirming social services agencies providing material support and other assistance to women experiencing unexpected pregnancies. These services are provided at no cost to the clients.”

Director Chris O’Brien said, “The most important element of these mailers are resources for women. When 23% of American women have had abortions, we’re using this opportunity to both educate AND provide resources.”
The postcards also include the URL to the Endowment for Human Development, which has a six-minute video of 4D ultrasounds showing the development of an unborn child.
As CatholicVote previously reported, Nebraska has two different measures regarding abortion on the ballot. The “Protect Women and Children Constitutional Amendment” bans abortion after the first trimester except in the cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother.
The “Protect the Right to Abortion Constitutional Amendment” allows abortion until viability (approximately 24 weeks) or whenever necessary for the health of the mother.
Bishop James Conley of the diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska, has asked the faithful to pray the Sacred Heart Novena to oppose the radically pro-abortion ballot measure.
