Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday suggested a missile 'duel' with the United States that would show how Russia's new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile could defeat any US missile defense system.

Addressing Western skepticism about the Oreshnik, Putin suggested that both sides select a designated target to be protected by US missiles.

"We're ready for such an experiment," Putin said.

Not really. He knows President Biden would not call his bluff.

President Trump is not yet in control of the DOD.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday suggested a missile ‘duel’ with the United States that would show how Russia’s new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile could defeat any US missile defense system.”

Considering that the US has all but exhausted its air defenses in Ukraine, Putin could probably land a bottle rocket on the White House, should he choose to demonstrate his capabilities.

Does that turn you on, Marcus?

Do you think we could win a nuclear war with Russia?

May the first lob squarely hit the DC Swamp, and may it happen before the Christmas exodus.

Your Putin is nuts.

And was that you complaining to Putin about butter prices on the call-in?

To: marktwain

Disagree. Dueling missiles is a most irresponsible suggestion. Not even diaper head would suggest this in his worst state of dementia.

Excellent idea, a duel between missile technologies to determine a winner without bloodshed. I am all for it. If we can shoot down Putin’s wonder weapon then we’ll know that Russia is all bluff and if the Russian missile can get past our defenses the maybe we should negotiate.

Putin is a mad dog killer.

What do you mean? He already threatened to use F-15s and nukes against American citizens.

“President Trump is not yet in control of the DOD.”

*************

But even when he is there’s still lots of ‘remedial’ work for him to do to get DoD back into fighting shape. There are DEI issues, recruiting problems, readiness issues, depleted munitions, restoration of accountability, etc. Its going to take awhile to get this things squared away.

Why would Putin abandon his goals just because one technology did not live up to it hype. More likely, the failure will be analyzed and corrections made. OTOH, how can Putin know that we really tried our hardest. The smarter thing for us to do would be to let the test succeed, take a close look at the missile’s performance, and improve our own defenses.

Not defending the diaper head one little bit, but remarks like that to the home team (disgusting as they are) are not on the same plane as remarks made to a nuclear armed adversary. The former doesnt threaten WWIII (maybe civil war, but not nuclear Armageddon). The latter does threaten WWIII.

Correct. Nuking your own country is way worse.
