The second of the Supercopa de Espana semi-finals takes place on Thursday evening as Real Madrid take on Mallorca, with a place against Barcelona in the final up for grabs.

Madrid are no strangers to this competition and have been involved every year since the emergence of a four-team format in 2020. They are also the current holders and have lifted the trophy 13 times - one less than record winners Barcelona.

Mallorca have made the final cut this year by virtue of last season's Copa del Rey final defeat to Athletic Club on penalties. They've appeared in this competition just three times, and this is their first since 2003, having won it back in 1998.

Jagoba Arrasate has built on the foundations laid by Javier Aguirre in his first season at the helm, with Mallorca currently sixth in La Liga having held Madrid to a 1-1 draw on the opening weekend of the season.

However, Los Bermellones have their work cut out if they're to progress into Sunday's final as they face an in-form Madrid side. Carlo Ancelotti's La Liga holders have ascended to the top of the table off the back of a four-game unbeaten run, and they cruised to Copa victory over Minera on Monday.

Here's 90min's guide to Thursday's Super Cup semi-final.

It's been a busy start to the new year for the La Liga champions, but Ancelotti was able to rotate his side for their Copa del Rey triumph on Monday night.

The heavy hitters will return to the fold in Saudi Arabia as Madrid go in search of another piece of silverware. Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger, Aurelien Tchouameni and Thibaut Courtois are among the players poised for recalls.

Ancelotti will also have Vinicius Junior available on Thursday despite his sending-off against Valencia. The Brazilian will serve his suspension in La Liga.

Los Blancos are without long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, but they'll soon benefit from David Alaba's return from a torn ACL. The Austrian has been out for well over a year.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Mallorca

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Mallorca (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Vazquez, Tchouameni, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Camavinga; Rodrygo, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappe.

Jagoba Arrasate

Samu Costa has missed Mallorca's previous three games through injury, but he's travelled with the squad to the Middle East and is seemingly in contention for his first minutes in a month on Thursday.

Antonio Raillo and Antonio Sanchez will both undergo late fitness tests, but neither player is expected to be included in the starting XI.

Jagoba Arrasate rotated heavily for their Copa del Rey defeat on Friday and will return to a more familiar lineup in Jeddah.

Mallorca predicted lineup vs Real Madrid

Mallorca predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-4-2): Greif; Mafeo, Valjent, Copete, Mojica; Asano, Morlanes, Mascarell, Darder; Larin, Muriqi.

Mallorca are hardly the most enterprising of units, but they are well-drilled and are bound to be an annoyance on Thursday.

Madrid, however, head into the bout in good form and are less likely to come unstuck - as was the case on opening weekend. Unlike their opponents, they're used to lengthy ventures to Middle East, but they may have to be patient before eventually enjoying success.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Mallorca
