(LifeSiteNews) — A record number of Catholic bishops from the U.K., including Archbishop Richard Moth, the archbishop of Westminster and president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, who will also celebrate the opening Mass, will participate in the 2026 March for Life UK in London.
Isabel Vaughn-Spruce, the co-director of the March for Life UK, announced on June 2 that Moth, along with two other bishops from Britain’s principal dioceses, Archbishop Bernard Longley of Birmingham and Archbishop John Wilson of Southwark, as well as 11 other bishops from across England, Wales, and Scotland, plan to attend the March and witness to the unborn. The September 5 March will come at a key time in the U.K., as Parliament has voted to decriminalize abortion up until birth, and pro-lifers, including Vaughan-Spruce, have been arrested for praying silently under “buffer zone” laws.
“The support of 14 bishops at the annual March for Life is a powerful sign of unity and hope,” Vaughan-Spruce told LifeSiteNews. “Their participation highlights the growing importance of public witness in promoting the dignity of every human life and the key role the Catholic Church has in defending the vulnerable with truth and compassion.”

READ: UK pro-lifer Isabel Vaughan-Spruce criminally charged for standing quietly outside abortion center
The British government has prosecuted several pro-life activists over the past year alone for violating the country’s abortion “buffer zone” law, which went into effect in 2024 and prohibits “influencing” anyone’s decision to access, provide, or facilitate abortion “services” within 150 meters of an abortuary. There have even been several cases of pro-lifers, including Vaughan-Spruce, who have been arrested and charged for simply praying silently outside an abortion center under this law.

Interestingly, ADF International has said that guidance on this law states that silent prayer of itself is not enough to be illegal unless it is accompanied by “overt” activity. Yet Vaughan-Spruce has always insisted that she has never done anything rising to that level. Nor do the police have any solid proof showing she has.
In recent years, the U.K. March for Life has seen thousands of energized pro-lifers, including many young people, fill the streets of London to witness to the unborn.
