Reform UK have demanded Andy Burnham publish all details of his meetings with Manchester City owners.

The Prime Minister has come under fire in the week after saying he would be "really concerned" if the Abu Dhabi United Group, which owns City, had to sell up the club after being found guilty of breaching the Premier League's financial rules.

Mr Anderson told GB News: "It's important that our Prime Minister is open and transparent.

"I'm a huge football fan and facts are facts, Manchester City have cheated their way to success, therefore, Burnham should publish all the details of his meetings with the owners.

"Our beautiful game must not be held to ransom by people from the highest bidder."

Mr Burnham has been seen in the past attending City games in their hospitality areas.

Downing Street confirmed the Prime Minister has not met City's owner since taking office in July.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak, City's chair, met with Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds in September, but Mr Burnham did not attend.

The pair discussed the two countries' relationship in defence, security, intelligence and trade, as part of Mr Al Mubarak's role as CEO of Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, according to Bloomberg.

Just 11 days after the pair met, Manchester City were found guilty of breaking Premier League rules.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) are also reportedly threatening to take billions from the UK for a hi-tech hub between Oxford and Cambridge, according to The Telegraph.

The UAE is understood to have invested over £30billion into British sectors over the past five years.

The Premier League's judgement has reportedly dealt a major blow to relations between the two nations.

City released a statement on Friday confirming they will appeal against the independent commission's findings in the Premier League's financial case.

Manchester City lodged an appeal in the week after being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules

City said: "Manchester City Football Club can confirm that at 7pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, the Club lodged its comprehensive Appeal against the opinion of the Premier League Commission, in relation to the Premier League disciplinary matter.

"The Club's firm position is that, on multiple grounds, the opinion contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe.

"The Club is innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League and a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists in support of all of its positions, relating to this case.

"We will continue to respect due process and are necessarily restricted in what we can say further until all proceedings are complete."

City have consistently denied any wrongdoing, with their appeal set to be considered by a separate Appeal Board under Premier League rules.

The rules provide for a hearing within 12 weeks of an appeal being lodged, although the eventual timetable and outcome remain uncertain.

The question of any punishment is being handled separately.
