Weather & What to Wear
FOUR-DAY OUTLOOK
Sunday is warm and humid, with a high around 28°C. Showers are expected from the afternoon, so carry a compact umbrella.
Wear light layers and waterproof shoes; the humidity will make it feel stickier than the number suggests.
Monday and Tuesday stay unsettled with showers. Wednesday is cloudier but drier. Forecasts differ between services, so check a live forecast before you head out.
Plan outdoor stops for the morning, before the showers arrive.

What to See & Do
SUNDAY IN SÃO PAULO
TODAY’S PICK — ART & ARCHITECTURE
A wet-day art crawl from Avenida Paulista to Ibirapuera
Start at MASP on Avenida Paulista in Jardins. It is open from 10am to 6pm and costs R$85 (about US$16), but entry is free on Tuesdays.
Walk the famous vão under the building after viewing the collection. Then take the metro from Trianon-MASP to Paraíso and switch to Line 1 blue toward Jabaquara.
Get off at Paraíso and walk to MAC USP in Ibirapuera. It is free and open until 9pm today. The brutalist building by Oscar Niemeyer is worth the trip alone.
Between the two, stop at Parque Ibirapuera. It is free and open daily. With rain around, stick to the covered walkways near the MAC.
Both museums are inside and dry. The total transport cost is R$5.40 (about US$1.03) each way with the Bilhete Único.
OUTDOORS — A DRIER WINDOW
Beco do Batman before the afternoon downpour
Go early to Beco do Batman in Vila Madalena. It is an open-air street of graffiti and murals, free to walk.
The usual rain picks up after lunch, so aim for 9am or 10am. Wear shoes that can handle damp cobblestones.
From there, you are a short walk to lunch spots on Rua Harmonia and Rua Aspicuelta.
COFFEE & WHERE TO WORK — VILA MADALENA & PINHEIROS
Weekend wifi and quiet tables
Coffee Lab in Pinheiros opens at 10am on Sundays and has reliable wifi and barista-led tastings. Expect to pay R$12–18 (about US$2.30–3.45) for a coffee.
Sofa Café in Pinheiros is quieter and open until 8pm. It has power outlets and a calm upstairs area.
For coworking, most dedicated spaces close on Sunday. Coffee Lab and Sofa are your best bet for a laptop session.
THE CONTRASTING PLAY — SESC POMPEIA
Concrete architecture and free cultural spaces
Sesc Pompeia in Pompeia is open today from 10am to 7pm and entry is free. The Lina Bo Bardi conversion is a landmark of São Paulo design.
There are usually free exhibitions and quiet reading areas. It is busier later in the morning, so go when doors open.
Take the metro to Barra Funda on Line 3 red and walk ten minutes. You avoid the worst of the rain inside.
TONIGHT, AFTER 7 PM
Slow dinner in Vila Madalena and a late-opening museum
MAC USP stays open until 9pm, which makes it the rare Sunday evening museum.
For dinner, go to Vila Madalena. Rua Aspicuelta and Rua Girassol have plenty of casual restaurants open Sunday evening.
Samba places can be quiet on a rainy Sunday. If you want low-key, try a boteco in Pinheiros rather than a club.
Book a table if you arrive after 8pm; smaller kitchens close early when it rains.
ALSO ON TODAY
MASP collection and current shows — Avenida Paulista, Jardins — 10am–6pm, R$85 (about US$16), free on Tuesdays only
MAC USP modern art — Ibirapuera — 10am–9pm, free
Sesc Pompeia cultural centre — Pompeia — 10am–5pm, free
Museu do Ipiranga — Ipiranga — 1pm–5pm special election-day hours, R$30 (about US$5.74), last entry 4pm
Beco do Batman street art — Vila Madalena — open-air, free
04
Getting Around
TRANSPORT
The Metrô runs normally today from 4:40am to midnight. The single-journey fare is R$5.40 (about US$1.03). Use a Bilhete Único or buy a QR-code single ticket at station machines.
The rodízio car-restriction scheme does not apply on Sundays. Ride apps have surge pricing in rain, so book before the afternoon downpour.
05
Where to Eat
LUNCH & DINNER
Lunch: Vila Madalena is the easiest place to eat after Beco do Batman. Rua Harmonia and Rua Aspicuelta have casual restaurants a short walk apart.
Dinner: Rua Aspicuelta and Rua Girassol stay open on Sunday evening. On a wet night, book a table if you arrive after 8pm.
06
Practical Info
GOOD TO KNOW
Carry a compact umbrella and wear waterproof shoes. A Bilhete Único or a QR-code single ticket covers the Metrô.
Brazilians vote today in the first round of the presidential election. Polls close at 5pm local time, so expect quieter streets around schools used as polling stations.
Dollar conversions in this brief use the Friday rate of R$5.22 per US$1 (RT).
07
Community & Lifestyle
FOR NEWCOMERS
A wet election Sunday suits a slow day: galleries in the morning, a long coffee, then dinner in Vila Madalena.
The cultural spaces above are free or low-cost, which makes them a simple way for newcomers to see the city without a plan.
08
Game Day
FOOTBALL
There is no Brazilian Serie A match today. The league is paused for the FIFA international window, and round 29 is scheduled for 7 and 8 October.
Palmeiras, from São Paulo, play Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores semi-final. The first leg is at the Maracanã on 14 October, and the return at the Nubank Parque in São Paulo is on 21 October.
