Despite Carrie Bradshaw’s reputation for wearing trend-setting outfits, Sarah Jessica Parker never wears any of her “Sex and the City” character’s iconic wardrobe. But she does have it.
“No, I don’t wear any of the wardrobe that I wore on the show ever. I have it. It’s an archive, but I never wear it. I never have,” Parker told People in a recent interview.
For Parker, these one-of-a-kind outfits would feel too much like a costume, especially since they’ve already seen the screen. “There’s a huge separation between myself and Carrie Bradshaw. So it would be like walking around in Sarah Sanderson’s costume,” she continued, referencing her “Hocus Pocus” role. “It doesn’t seem applicable to my life.”
While Bradshaw has laid the character’s wardrobe to rest, she dressed as Bradshaw in the HBO series from 1998 to 2004. Parker revisited the role for two films and the spinoff series, “And Just Like That…,” from 2021 to 2025. Now, audiences have officially said goodbye to Bradshaw and all her iconic outfits. Parker bid her character an emotional farewell on social media when the spinoff ended.
“Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,” Parker wrote. “I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.”
Parker added: “This chapter is complete” and called “And Just Like That” a “joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.”
