Slain InfoWars writer Jamie White was shot dead outside of his Austin, Texas apartment in a botched car burglary, authorities believe.

White, 36, was found lying on the ground in the parking lot of his apartment complex with gunshot wounds to his body just before midnight Sunday night, Austin Police confirmed on Tuesday.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.

After speaking with witnesses, detectives believe that the suspects may have been breaking into White’s car when he interrupted them and they opened fire.

No information has been released about the suspects, who fled the scene, according to police.

White’s family said they do not believe the shooting was targeted.

Despite working for the controversial far-right network, family members don’t believe the shooting was targeted and said he had been targeted by burglars before.

“He was shot by a person or persons trying to break into his car for the second time,” White’s sister Kelly Kneale told The Independent.

His car was broken into months ago when he traveled to visit family over the holidays, she told the outlet.

“A tragic accident, but we haven’t heard much else,” she added. “I hope whoever took his life is caught and brought to justice. My father and I are devastated, to say the least.”

White’s murder was first reported by InfoWars founder Alex Jones on Monday night, who described White as the best writer at InfoWars and a “good friend” who had been working at the outlet for many years, in a broadcast posted to X.

Jones, meanwhile, pinned the blame on the policies of the progressive Soros-backed Austin District Attorney Jose Garza.

“We pledge that Jamie’s tragic death will not be in vain, and those responsible for this senseless violence will be brought to justice,” Jones said in a statement.
