Some Republicans Want To Punish Democrats And Their Sanctuary Cities Where It Hurts. Others Say It Goes Too Far

Department of Homeland Security Sec. Markwayne Mullin says DHS is planning to pull Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers from airports in so-called “sanctuary city” jurisdictions. 

Mullin detailed the plan in an appearance on Fox News in late May. Speaking of cities which refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, Mullin asked, “Why are we processing international flights into the airport there? We are currently … drawing up plans to say, listen — in these sanctuary cities where the local, radical left Democrats aren’t allowing us to do our job and enforce federal laws, then we shouldn’t be processing international flights into their cities either, because they don’t want us to enforce immigration, but they want us to process immigration at their facilities?
