Split Fiction director Josef Fares has revealed some interesting plans for the future away from gaming, and also lifted the lid on his iconic moment at The Game Awards.

Hazelight Studios have enchanted gamers over the last few years with their co-op offering. That started with A Way Out back in 2018, which put you at the center of a heartbreaking story of two criminals escaping prison. That was followed up by It Takes Two – which won plenty of accolades – and they’ve now moved on to Split Fiction.

The new game follows the story of two authors, who are writing books in different genres and get teleported into them. Throughout the story, each author’s world comes to life in unique ways. It’s a pretty fun follow-up to It Takes Two.

It has already earned a few nods to win Game of the Year, as well as reigniting calls for Hazelight to do a single-player game. However, Josef Fares has plans outside of gaming too.

“I do however have a plan to make an action comedy. I have like a story written down, like just a synopsis. If I have the time, if it doesn’t clash with my game development, because again, games is number one, then I will do a movie,” he told Dexerto for Fall Damage.

Josef Fares talks iconic Game Awards moment bashing Oscard

That might surprise a few fans, especially those who remember his iconic blasting of The Oscars during The Game Awards.

“I was going to mention about the friends pass, but I was so excited. All of this happened because, first of all, it’s just jet lag, but there was so much talk about the Oscars before,” he added.

“Like the Oscars, the Oscars, it’s like the Oscars of video games. So when I was there, I was so excited and caught up in the moment. I was like f**k the Oscars.”

Fares added that Geoff Keighley, the host of the Game Awards, had been “stressed” at the time but was also keen to praise the Hazelight boss.

“I remember after this, Geoff, me and him are good friends now. He looked at his phone, he was kind of stressed and he looked he’s like, man people love you man,” he revealed.
