If you’ve played It Takes Two, then you likely already know what’s about to be said about Split Fiction. After all, most will never forget Cutie the Elephant (that’s her actual name) and what you have to do to her in order to be free of this toy curse.
For those that don’t, in It Takes Two, you’re told by the most annoying book ever, that you need to rekindle your love with one another in order to escape these toy bodies you find yourself in. At one point (we won’t spoil it too much) you decide that a good way to be free is to make your daughter cry on your bodies (hey, it works in the cartoons).
Naturally, that’s done by destroying her favorite toy, Cutie the Elephant. What follows is easily the most heartbreaking scene of It Takes Two, where you have to slowly rip limbs from a crying elephant before pushing her off a ledge Lion King style.
Split Fiction doesn’t hold back on Cutie
Well, that heartbreaking scene has made a return, with Cutie the Elephant starring in Split Fiction. And yes, you can rip her limbs off all over again.
Once you head into the Tron/Cyberpunk style level, you’ll be traversing through the game as assassins. Near the beginning, you’ll come across a small closed shop, with a very familiar elephant sitting on the top.
Now one player will have a gravity whip, and you likely already know what’s going to happen next. That player has to use their whip to pull the exact same limbs off of Cutie as they did in It Takes Two, and it’s equally as heartbreaking and disturbing as last time.
Of course, this isn’t the only easter egg featured in Split Fiction. The game’s practically teeming with them, but the unfortunate homage to poor Cutie the Elephant is by far the most heartbreaking.
