Straphanger who miraculously survived being shoved into path of incoming NYC subway breaks silence: ‘Full of gratitude’

The subway-shoving victim who miraculously survived being pushed onto the tracks of an oncoming Manhattan train broke his silence to thank those who helped him after the random New Year’s Eve attack.

“A massive thank you to the first responders who saved my life on New Year’s Eve, the bystanders . . . and to the medical teams at Bellevue,” music programmer and DJ Joseph Lynskey said in a statement posted to a GoFundMe this week.

“I am full of gratitude for every single one of you.

Lynskey, 45, narrowly avoided certain death after lunatic Kamel Hawkins allegedly shoved him onto the path of a 1 train that was barreling into the 18th Street Station in Chelsea.

He suffered a cracked skull, fractured ribs and a ruptured spleen. 

Hawkins, 23, whose rap sheet includes assaulting an NYPD officer, was hit with attempted murder and assault charges by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. 

The terrifying incident is among several attacks that rocked rails in recent weeks. 

In addition to Lynskey’s shoving, at least five straphangers were stabbed between Dec. 29 and Jan. 2, while a sleeping F train rider was gruesomely torched to death in Brooklyn on Dec. 22.
