A Pittsburgh pediatrician is dead and his wife is hospitalized after a home invasion stabbing attack in their Edgewood, Pennsylvania home, according to authorities.
Allegheny County police have arrested 32-year-old Elijah Hemingway, of Pittsburgh. He has a rap sheet in the county courthouse going back to 2016, with his most recent prior arrest coming in July in connection with a burglary that took place in February, according to court records.
He was released without bail on that charge.

On Thursday, authorities brought seven new charges against him in connection with the attack — including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and trespassing.
Hemingway is accused of breaking into the victim's home on Linden Avenue around 12:30 a.m.

Dr. Idris Evans, 46, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His wife was listed in stable condition.
Evans was the medical director of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, according to his university profile.

Evans' wife told investigators that they awoke to a man attacking them in bed with a kitchen knife, according to court documents obtained by KDKA. She said the attacker was wearing only underwear and uttered about "being God," the outlet reported. She also told investigators that Evans called the attacker "Elijah," as though he knew him.

The couple's two young children, 8 and 12, were home during the attack.
