A trans-identified male is on trial in Traunstein, Germany, for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in a restaurant’s washroom. The 55-year-old man, whose identity has not been revealed by the court, is a now-suspended German federal police officer, and also faces charges of possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, and the production of material depicting sexual activity with an animal.

The case began with an alleged sexual assault in August 2025 and quickly developed into a much broader investigation involving the seizure of digital devices and a large quantity of additional criminal material. The man, who previously worked for the Federal Police Inspectorate in Rosenheim, has been held in pretrial detention since October of 2025.

The trial opened Tuesday at the Regional Court in Traunstein, where prosecutors and the defense immediately reached a sentencing agreement. If the defendant makes a comprehensive confession and the other conditions of the agreement are met, a conviction would carry a prison term of between three and three-and-a-half years.

According to the prosecution, the case’s most serious allegation involves the sexual abuse and exploitation of a young girl. The 14-year-old victim is understood to be the daughter of one of the man’s friends. It is unclear if the child’s parents were aware of this outing or gave permission for it to occur.

During the trip, the two stopped at a fast-food restaurant, and the man took the child into the establishment’s toilet before sexually assaulting and raping her.

The indictment describes the teenager as being in shock immediately after the alleged assault. It says she was unable to respond in fear before the defendant left the cubicle. The girl then allegedly locked herself inside the bathroom and suffered what was described as a serious anxiety attack.

Regional reporting has placed the restaurant at or near the A8 motorway around Irschenberg. One local report says the prosecution believes the defendant exploited the teenager’s trust and the relationship between him and her parent.

Prosecutors also allege that the defendant had previously targeted the girl for sexual abuse, sending her a pornographic WhatsApp message while on shift at the police station.

While it is unclear how the predator first came to the attention of authorities, the investigation was almost immediately expanded beyond the allegations involving the teenage girl.

Authorities searched the defendant’s home and seized a mobile phone, laptop, USB drives and a hard drive, according to regional outlets. One report stated that investigators found almost 2,000 image files and several videos, while other accounts have described the amount more generally as “hundreds” of files.

Investigators reportedly identified extreme child sexual abuse material among the files. In court, prosecutors noted that the youngest victim was around three years of age. According to NIUS, the files in the man’s possession depicted “serious acts of violence against children.”

The defendant is also accused of producing material depicting sexual activity with an animal. Prosecutors allege that videos were made involving the defendant, other sexual partners, and a dog.

At the opening of the trial this week, prosecutors and the defense reached a negotiated understanding under which the predator could receive between three and three-and-a-half years in prison if a comprehensive confession is made. If he cooperates with the process, the teenage victim would be spared having to give a traumatizing testimony in court.

The defense has requested that the public be excluded from the trial.

Four days of proceedings were initially scheduled, with a verdict potentially coming on October 8. The agreement could allow the case to conclude earlier, however, depending on the defendant’s cooperation and the court’s handling of the remaining evidence. The defendant is currently housed in the men’s section of Munich prison.

Disturbingly, some German media outlets failed to note the predator was a biological male, and instead referred to him simply as a “police woman” or “female police officer.”
