A teenager was orphaned after his dad killed his mom, then killed himself in a car crash after raging at his ex for going on a date with a new man.  .

Police said James Christopher Lindsey, 42, attacked Kristin Stevens, 40, at around 1am on Friday after smashing into her suburban Florida home using a hammer.

Seminole County Sheriff's office told DailyMail.com Lindsey stabbed Stevens 'more than 50 times all over her body' in the horror attack at the property on the leafy Hibbard Trail in Chuluota, a small town on the outskirts of Orlando.

She had been sleeping beside her new boyfriend at the time after the two reportedly enjoyed a Friday evening date together earlier on December 6.

The boyfriend, who has not been named, told officials he awoke  to the horrific sight of Lindsey slashing Stevens while on top of her.

He said he tried to kick Lindsey off but the knife-wielding maniac stabbed him in the upper leg. The boyfriend fled to a neighbor's house to call 911.

All the while, Lindsey and Stevens' 16-year-old son was in the home. He was not harmed in the bloodthirsty rampage and managed to sleep through it, police said.

Lindsey was found dead around four hours later after crashing his car in the Orange County area of Fort Christmas Road.

The killer lost control of his vehicle on a notorious bend while traveling at speeds of more than 100mph and was ejected from the car. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Lindsey had a disturbing history of domestic violence incidents against Stevens involving police, dating back to 2014.

The bloody attack came on the day Lindsey had been due for his court arraignment on a domestic violence battery charge against Stevens.

Seminole County Sheriff's Office said Lindsey was arrested on November 6, and police had requested he be placed on GPS monitoring. They also requested an increased bond and no contact conditions.

Lindsey was issued a $1,000 bond with the no contact stipulation, but GPS monitoring was not granted.

'This is a heartbreaking and traumatic incident that will have a lasting impact on families and a community,' said Sheriff Dennis Lemma.

'I am proud of our deputies' quick response to the scene and our detectives who have been working around the clock to put these cases together.

'Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

'Our team will continue to work diligently to uncover the full details surrounding this case.'

Stevens' friend, Kori Alvarez Resto, has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for her orphaned son, and to advocate for a new domestic violence law which would require stricter monitoring of offenders.

Describing Stevens' plight, Resto wrote: 'After courageously trying to escape an abusive relationship, she was murdered by her abuser—someone who was able to bypass a court injunction and was not ankle monitored, despite previous threats.

'Tragically, her 16 year old son, now has to navigate life without his mother.'

'We aim to raise awareness and push for legislative changes that would require stricter monitoring of domestic violence offenders, ensuring that no one else has to go through the horror my best friend did,' Resto added.

'No one should be able to break an injunction and hurt someone again. We will be working with legal experts, advocacy groups, and legislators to make this law a reality.'

'Kristin was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who deserved a future filled with peace, joy, and love,' she added.

'She truly believed she was here to shed light and love on everyone and she did so effortlessly.

'She was present in every moment and her death has left a gaping hole in the lives of everyone who knew her.'
