I’m a poor conservative, those prices are for Democrat elites.

I’ll keep my ‘05, F350 Harley Edition, V8 turbo-diesel. It needs about $2k a year in repairs which is FAR, FAR less than payments on one of those fire yet to happen vehicles.

The X5 has the highest depreciation rate of the group.

The X7 is even worse1

stay away from all of those except the lexuses. None of those are reliable and the bmw x5 has a history of fob related issues causing no start conditions. requires a trip to the dealer on a flatbed to repair.

Hyundai/KIA SUV have more accommodating back seats than all but special models of lux brands, or even of mid-brands.

At some point, the rational competes with the emotional.

I’ve only have had two Acura MDXs in the past twenty years.

The only other vehicles I would consider on this list would be a Lexus.

I would agree with you about getting a Lexus or maybe an Acura MDX from that list. Pass on the rest.

We're looking to replace my wife's 2007 Infiniti FX35. Hopefully there are some non-luxury mid-size SUVs worth purchasing.

Can’t afford a $50K metal box on wheels.

My first home, 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, two fire places, all brick 2,200 sq.ft. in 1969 was $13,900 and sold it in 1979 for $ 29,900.

I know, I know, I am an old fart but I also drove Mercedes for 35 years and never paid more than $ 290/month {leases} but today's inflation prices are insane.

I can afford any of those cars and pay cash for any of them, but why?

My view is if you want them and can afford to pay, that is your choice, and I don't have any opinion on how people spend their own money.

I got Mrs. Be Free a 2021 Toyota Venza Limited. Every bit as nice as the Lexus RX, but without the Dem-elite price premium. This model is discontinued for 2025, replaced by the Toyota Crown Signia - which looks even nicer, with only a modest bump in MSRP.

Take a look at Mazda SUVs, luxury values at non-luxury prices. Also, Mazda is one of the few non-luxury SUVs which doesn’t use CVT for transmissions.

A $50K SUV depreciates $20K over 5 years. Spending $2K/yr you beat the depreciation alone by 100%!.

Why are there German cars on any “best” list?
