New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, left, and Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su attend a press conference on Oct. 14, 2026, in New York City, where officials announced the city will award $29.2 million to New York University to establish a Quantum Fabrication Facility.

The Issue: DSA figures’ fury at ICE after the shooting of a criminal illegal in The Bronx.
Gangbangers like Oscar Belgal are foot soldiers in the DSA’s war against New York (“DSA’s cho‘ICE’ to protect Zo,” Oct. 13).
In their warped vision of New York, having a five-year-old child grants violent criminals untouchable status.
Without even waiting to be sworn into office, Chevalier has shown New Yorkers that making the city a better place is not part of her agenda.

The inept mayor should be concerned about criminal illegal aliens, but instead the NYPD and other law enforcement officers are being forced to deal with the fallout from his socialist policies.
Those officers and their families are Mamdani’s constituents, and their safety is his responsibility. He needs to wipe that grin off his face, be quiet, and focus on the job he was elected to do.

Congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier and her other DSA comrades don’t think Belgal should have been targeted by ICE. Belgal is a criminal illegal alien — what more do we need to know?

Mayor Mamdani and his gaggle of socialists claim to have compassion and support for the poor, but their support for criminals like Oscar Belgal tells a far different story.
People who actually live in marginalized neighborhoods are forced to deal with the horrors of violent illegals, and those who are hurt or murdered by them clearly mean nothing to our soft-on-crime leaders.
ICE is not the problem. These officers are taking criminals off our streets and deserve our respect.

New Yorkers have to understand how unattached to reality the DSA is. They are calling for the end of police, prisons, law, and order.
The top reason over 10 million illegals crossed our borders under Biden was that they didn’t have law and order in their country.
Bruce Collins

Chevalier supports criminal illegal aliens and wants them to walk our streets. She is not in any position to tell the mayor who to fire — especially the New York City Police Commissioner, Jessica Tisch.

The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s choice not to attend New York City’s annual Columbus Day Parade.
I was more than happy not to have Mayor Mamdani march in the Columbus Day parade (“Zo’s Italian ice,” Oct. 11).
What Italian-American in their right mind would want to be associated with a socialist?
Leave us out of your discriminating politics and let us enjoy the day without you and your destructive agenda for New York.

By praising former New York Rep. Vito Marcantonio — an ethnically Italian congressman from the ’40s who was investigated for his links to communism — our mayor shows that he is also a communist-sympathizing, anti-American.
Whose parade will this “mayor for all New Yorkers” snub next?
Robert April
Manhattan
Mayor Mamdani has alienated two of the city’s legacy ethnic groups — the Jews and the Italians. His radical ideology prevented him from attending a parade that has a long history and is considered a major part of New York City’s culture.
Attending offered him a golden opportunity to mend fences with the Italian community and heal the damage done by the infamous photo of himself lifting a middle finger to the Columbus statue, with the caption “Tear it down.”
