Born with a silver spoon in his mouth to a wealthy Connecticut family, Henry McGowan seemingly had it all, until earlier this week.
His father John McGowan - who Henry has been charged with murdering at a luxury Irish hotel - enjoyed a decades-long career as a successful financier.
That saw Henry brought up in tony Greenwich, Connecticut, where his family attended the $74,000-a-year Deerfield Academy.
His parents later moved to a stunning $1.9 million colonial-style home in New Canaan, Connecticut.
Meanwhile, Henry based himself at a stylish $5,100-a-month pre-war apartment in trendy Brooklyn.
But the successful and well-regarded family found itself at the center of a horrific crime on Tuesday when Henry allegedly killed his dad at Ballyfin Demense hotel in Laois, Ireland.

Glossy photos on its website show that the bloodbath unfolded among the type of opulent surroundings both Henry and John McGowan were accustomed to.

John McGowan, 66, has been a head partner for a brokerage firm that specialized in trading on the New York stock exchange
McGowan had graduated from the University of Virginia and had been most recently working for technology software company Affirm.
He now currently resides in a pre-war apartment in the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights. His apartment last sold for $1.2 million.
The area is famed for its brownstone townhouses and tree-lined promenade which stretches down the East River.
In his free time he was known to attend exclusive parties in the Hamptons during the summer months, which are popular amongst the New York elite.
Attending a stunning Ballroom Marfa party last summer, McGowan was snapped rubbing shoulders with award winning architect Ted Flato and his family.
While not spending his time in the Hamptons or away from his Brooklyn home, his social media show him frequenting Texas, Miami, San Francisco and Colorado.
McGowan had reportedly been on a trip around Europe before he made his way to Ireland. A photo obtained by DailyMail.com shows him relaxing in a very ritzy looking ski resort.
After travelling to Ireland earlier this week he checked himself into the Ballyfin Demense, a luxury resort in County Laois famed for its celebrity links.
It was at the exclusive hotel that his father later joined him after flying to Ireland from New York on Monday evening, after worried staff reported him acting erratically.
His father had jetted across the Atlantic, leaving his $1.9 million home in Canaan, Connecticut, to help his son who suffers from bipolar disorder.
On Tuesday, McGowan was found unresponsive inside the leisure area of the hotel and was later pronounced dead.

Irish police say the death was caused by a 'fatal assault' and have launched an investigation, but haven't offered further details on how he was killed.
McGowan was charged with his murder and made no reply to the charge when he was cautioned by officers.
After a brief court on Thursday, he was remanded in custody inside Cloverhill Prison with his case adjourned to November 18.
McGowan's lawyer Barry Fitzgerald said he suffers from significant mental health difficulties.
The judge presiding over the case has allowed McGowan to receive immediate medical assistance relating to his mental health.
In a previous marathon fundraiser that Henry said he had a 'manic episode' in January of 2022 and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

He added: 'I was released from the hospital and began the process of reconnecting with reality, my dear friends and family, and eventually my work and hobbies.
'It was a painstaking path, but being on the other side of it, I am deeply grateful for and in disbelief at how much my life has improved in this relatively short time.
'There is no greater lesson from this experience than the importance of community.
'My family, friends, therapists/psychiatrists, and employer were a formidable force that put a large landing pad (spanning from NYC to Paris) underneath me, one that very well could have saved my life.'
