The View co-host Sunny Hostin compared the January 6 riots to slavery, World War II and the Holocaust while arguing that Americans should not 'move on' from the insurrection.

A heated discussion about the January 6, 2021 attacks on the US Capitol arose during the talk show's Monday episode, prompting Hostin, 56, to share her perspective.

'I think we need to find moral clarity in this country,' she said, later explaining that people have started to 'back track' their stances on the event

Hostin added that the blame belongs 'squarely on Trump's shoulders' and praised Sen. Mitchell McConnell for holding the soon-to-be president accountable

She then referred to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's October 2021 appearance on The View

At the time, Rice said that 'it's time to move on' from the insurrection after condemning the riots

'I say no, you don't move on because January 6 was an atrocity, it was one of the worst moments in American history,' Hostin said.

'And when you think about the worst moments in American history - like World War II, things that happened, like the Holocaust, chattel slavery - we need to never forget because past becomes prologue if you forget and erase.'

A heated discussion about the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots arose during the talk show's Monday episode

Hostin's passionate rant sparked strong online reactions, with some calling the TV personality's sentiment 'absolutely ridiculous.'

'That's a bold and absolutely atrocious statement. What a slap in the face to those people who legitimately suffered at the hands of true evil. She's entitled to her 1st amendment rights…but holy hell…what a moron,' one woman wrote on X.

'What a terribly insulting thing to say,' another chimed in.

Yet another user took a dig at the entire show, saying they would 'use the same language [as Hostin] to describe The View.'

'That's pretty funny, they can say these things with a straight face,' another viewer agreed.

'She simply is ignorant about the facts of History,' another user wrote. 'One person was killed during the protest - an unarmed white woman was shot by a black police officer.

'Comparing the protest to the Holocaust and slavery is beyond idiotic. Historically speaking.'

Another agreed that Hostin should educate herself about American history, citing other incidents over the years.

Over the course of the episode, the hosts discussed and debated several other 'hot topics,' including Jimmy Carter's death and the 2024 election

Hostin called out  former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for saying it was time to 'move on' from the January 6 riots while appearing on the view in October 2021

'Lady, you don't know your history. The Capitol was bombed in 1915, 1971, and 1983. Do you remember Pearl Harbor? 9/11? Those were atrocities. Quit comparing everything to the Holocaust and/or slavery,' the user wrote.

Over the course of the episode, the hosts discussed and debated several other 'hot topics,' including Jimmy Carter's death and the 2024 election.

Hostin, who often promotes her left-leaning stances, shockingly admitted last month that her unwavering faith to the Democratic party may have blinded her from the perspective of working-class Americans.

During the December 2024 episode, she said she was 'rethinking my thinking' as Donald Trump's support from the working class has become unignorable.

'Maybe it's time for the Democrats to do a little bit of this postmortem,' Hostin said.
