Over the weekend it emerged that a convicted paedophile and illegal migrant from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who has been in the UK since 2008, escaped deportation.
The man was convicted of sexually abusing his own stepdaughter as well as two other young girls in his family, yet has escaped deportation after completing a prison sentence owing to, yes you guessed, the European Court of Human Rights.
This criminal was never granted asylum but given leave to stay in 2014 because he had already started a family and so his deportation would breach his human rights.
But then when he is found guilty of pedophilia, the taxpayer foots the bill for his imprisonment for three years, rather than deporting him immediately upon conviction.
Jacob Rees-Mogg questions why a convicted paedophile escaped deportation
GB NEWS
Now he’s served his time, we are stuck with this criminal who does not warrant asylum because of his right to a family life yet he has been granted it. This paedophile will now go back to the family which he has abused.
This is not the first time we’ve discussed cases like this on this programme.
Jacob wants to leave the ECHR

What about the Nigerian illegal migrant and convicted drug dealer who avoided deportation earlier this month because Nigeria wouldn’t have sufficient mental healthcare services? This is the fault of the ECHR too.
What about the Indian illegal migrant and convicted paedophile who avoided deportation earlier this year because it would impinge on his right to family life? Also a consequence of the human rights convention.
And what about the Syrian illegal migrant and convicted bank robber who won the right to stay in the UK in October on the grounds that he would be persecuted back in Syria. Yes, that's also a result of the ECHR.
Sir Keir Starmer and this socialist government have no plan to solve this problem. They do not even really care about it as they think it is how we ought to be governed.
The interesting thing that connects all of these cases, aside from the fact that they’re all illegal migrants and criminals who avoid deportation, is that they all seem to be granted anonymity from the courts, apparently because the right of illegal migrant paedophiles, drug dealers and bank robbers to anonymity is more important than your right to know who is in your country.
But that cherry on the top of this grave insult to the British people really fits in rather well with the ever-growing conspiracy of silence emanating from our judicial system that increasingly disregards democracy and prioritises the rights of foreign criminals.
This great nation that took a thousand years to build is being destroyed by the agenda of the global elite, the people who have forced an unaccountable bureaucracy-based order over a democratic one. An order that the new crony Attorney General values above our own law.
As Lord Howard told us last week, the best protection of our freedom is the right to vote. A representative democracy balances the difficult choices that have to be made. An unaccountable bureaucracy through the ECHR and the human rights act does not.
