Amazon surprised everyone by releasing its highest-grossing film ever (and the second highest earner for 2026 as a whole), Project Hail Mary, on the niche streaming service MGM+, rather than debuting it on Prime Video. Weird, right? Luckily, if you aren't an MGM+ subscriber, it's cheaper than ever to sign up — thanks to Prime Day.

Through June 26 (the final day of Amazon's Prime Day sale), you can sign up for MGM+ for only 99 cents per month for two months. Usually $7.99 per month, that's $14 total in savings. The only catch is that you have to subscribe through Prime Video, which requires a Prime membership. The MGM+ streaming library will live inside your Prime Video app as an add-on channel, and you'll be billed directly through Amazon itself for convenience.

It seems bizarre that Amazon would choose to debut Project Hail Mary, its biggest movie ever, on its smaller, niche streaming service, but it's actually not that out of the ordinary. The studio has previously debuted Challengers and Blink Twice on MGM+ as well, before they made their way to Prime Video.

MGM+ may not be the most popular streaming service around, but it's actually home to some stellar movies and TV shows. And for only 99 cents per month, you can watch plenty beyond Project Hail Mary. We recommend The Martian (another adaptation of an Andy Weir novel), the small town mystery MGM+ Original Series From, and Nickel Boys (one of our favorite movies of 2024), just to name a few.
