Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's son Chet has been mocked online after he debuted a new accent on social media.

Chet, 34, who previously raised eyebrows by using a Jamaican accent, seemed to take on a New York-inspired style of speaking while addressing fans in an Instagram video this week.

'It's mad brick out here, B,' he said to the camera while strutting down the snow-covered streets of NYC.

'Word to my muvva, I'm bricked up,' he continued, while uttering a handful of other indecipherable words.

Chet's video was re-posted by an account called Hollywood Unlocked, and people in the comments section couldn't resist roasting the White Boy Summer rapper - with one accusing him of suffering from an 'identity crisis.'

'Sound like an undercover cop,' commented one, while another wrote, 'He’s a good actor like his daddy.'

A third wrote, 'I know Tom wakes up everyday amazed and flabbergasted that this is his child.'

Another added, 'I hate when non-New Yorkers use the accent, it be losing me.'

'Nobody even talks like that unless they just came home from jail,' wrote a fifth.

Other people in the comments debated Chet's use of the term 'bricked up,' with many stating that it could mean anything from having an erection to slang for drugs.

'Like what do you mean you bricked up? Just using the lingo all wrong,' commented one.

'Don't say "I'm bricked up" to describe how cold we are. "I’m bricked up" means you’re in possession of hella kilos lol,' wrote another.

Chet previously admitted that his famous parents had banned him from starring on reality TV shows until they finally relented and allowed him to take part in VH1's The Surreal Life.

'They definitely have said [no reality TV] in regard to the typical reality shows,' the rapper told DailyMail.com.

'When this came up, we discussed it and everybody agreed… we all agreed that this could be a really great opportunity for me and it was perfect,' he continued of The Surreal Life.

'They were really supportive. I was excited and everybody was.'

Tom also shares Colin and Elizabeth, with his late ex-wife Samantha Lewes.

Chet has long been synonymous with controversy as he's made headlines over the years for his erratic behavior.

He's also been open about his past drug use, revealing in July that he used to be a 'cokehead.'

'I'm a f**king cokehead, straight up. Not anymore, but that is my drug of choice - cocaine, bro, like Tony Montana,' he said.

'You’re like, "I know this dude's a f**king cokehead, but I want a little bump."

'I would go do coke with the cokeheads, and they would be telling me, like, "Yo, chill, bro … Wait a second. Give it like 15 minutes." I couldn't get enough of that s**t.'

Chet, who said he had been sober for almost two years at the time, added of his past addiction: 'It’s terrible. It eats away. You just, like, wither away 'cause you can't eat, you can't sleep.'

Opening up about his hopes for his appearance on The Surreal Life, Chet stated: 'Just for people to see a different side of Chet Hanks... which I think they will.'
