According to an announcement Friday from CBS Sports, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will not be returning to the outlet as an NFL game analyst, with the move coming after his July arrest on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

“CBS Sports and Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways,” said CBS Sports in a statement, per ESPN. “We thank Tony for his contributions over the past nine years and wish him the best moving forward.” (RELATED: ‘What The F*ck! Romo was placed under arrest following a traffic stop July 23 in Milwaukee. According to court records, an arresting officer stated that he smelled a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on the ex-quarterback’s breath.

Romo went on to do poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, ultimately being released.

Romo had his driving privileges revoked for a total of six months after pleading no contest Sept. 1. He was also given orders to have an ignition interlock device placed on any vehicles that he owned, registered or operated. Romo also had to pay a $784 fine and complete an alcohol assessment program in person.

According to CBS, fellow NFL icon J.J. Watt will keep serving as its lead analyst, a position he took over after Romo was placed on leave prior to the season.

In a statement, Romo said that he will be taking time off before thinking about his future.

“I’m proud of what I accomplished at CBS Sports over the last nine years. I approached my role as a game analyst the way I’ve approached everything in my life — with a desire to win and be the best that I can be,” said Romo.

“I’m going to use this time to take a break, something I’ve never done before, and focus on my health and my family before moving on to my next opportunity,” he continued. “I am grateful for my time with CBS Sports and for the continued support of my family and friends, as well as the NFL community and fans.”
