KANSAS CITY, MO — One of football's biggest stars was revealed to have fallen prey to scammers, as Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was victimized by a criminal ring that forces people to dress like idiots.
The future hall-of-famer made the startling revelation this week after news broke that he had been taken in by a group of foreign nationals who make it their express purpose to dupe unsuspecting athletes, musicians, and movie stars into wearing the most ridiculous outfits known to man.
"They made me look like a fool in front of the whole world," Kelce said. "I thought they were high-end fashion designers. Turns out they were just a bunch of illegal immigrants who were trying to see what they could convince me to wear. I feel so violated and ashamed. Have you seen the pictures? Look at me… a full-body tie-dyed sweatsuit? With an orange parka worn over it? Why didn't my family and friends try to help me?"
Experts confirmed that the criminal ring has been operating for years and counted dozens of professional sports stars and Hollywood celebrities as its victims. "We've seen it a million times, unfortunately," said fashion fraud investigator Simeon Purtle. "You see these celebrities parading around in public wearing the most absurd outfits, but it's not their fault. They're the victims here. Along with anyone who sees them."
Kansas City Chiefs public relations revealed that Kelce was seeking treatment to get over the damage he suffered in the ordeal.
At publishing time, investigators declined to comment on whether Kelce's wife, Taylor Swift, was an accomplice in convincing him to dress like a moron.
