Trump Doxxes GOP Senator’s Cell Phone Number Amid Push To Make Daylight Saving Time Permanent

President Donald Trump broadcast a fellow Republican’s personal cellphone number to his millions of followers over a dispute about whether Americans should keep changing their clocks.

Trump posted the Arkansas cellphone number for Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton on Truth Social Saturday, calling the senator “a friend of mine” while blaming him for stalling the Sunshine Protection Act, according to the post.

He told residents of the state to call and pressure Cotton to advance the measure, which would lock in daylight saving time year-round and scrap the twice-annual clock switch. “It only takes one” senator to hold up a bill in the Senate, Trump wrote, urging Arkansans to tell Cotton to “GET IT DONE.” (RELATED: Trump Lobbying For Slam Dunk Victory In Battle Affecting All Americans)

The House cleared the bill 308-117 in July, The Hill reported, but it has gone nowhere in the Senate. The chamber sits in recess and will not resume legislative business until after the November midterms, the Washington Times reported, so no vote loomed regardless of Cotton’s objection.

Cotton fired back the same afternoon with a post of his own. “No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter,” he wrote on X. “Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.” He is not the only Republican opposed to the switch, the Associated Press noted.

The number carries a northwestern Arkansas area code and does not appear on Cotton’s official government website, Reuters reported. Reporters who dialed it reached a voicemail box that never identified its owner, and the Daily Beast said the line drew so many calls that leaving a message became impossible.

Trump argued that more evening light benefits golfers, tennis players, hunters and farmers, and he pointed to a letter from PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, according to his post. He also claimed that more than 65% of the public wants extra afternoon sun.

Trump has run this play before. He read Sen. Lindsey Graham’s cellphone number aloud at a 2015 rally after the South Carolina Republican insulted him, the Daily Beast reported. Graham, who died in July, said afterward he was “probably getting a new phone.” At Graham’s funeral this summer, Trump conceded, “I did something that I shouldn’t have done.”
