CV NEWSFEED // Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump on Monday posted a campaign video on X detailing the tragic death of Jocelyn Nungaray. The three-minute video, which now has over 17 million views, tells the story of the horrific murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn, which took place on June 17.
The video, narrated by Jocelyn’s mother Alexis Nungaray, starts with the mom explaining the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death – beginning the night before with Nungaray telling her daughter that she loved her before going to bed.
Nungaray continued to detail the harrowing experience of finding out that her daughter had been murdered:
I see yellow tape, and immediately my heart drops and sinks to the bottom of my stomach. My daughter’s hands and ankles were both bound. She was strangled to death, left with no pants, and I know in my heart she fought incredibly hard. She was not going down without a fight.
Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, two Venezuelan nationals, were arrested and charged with capital murder three days later and were confirmed to have entered the U.S. illegally. The two criminals are affiliated with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
Martinez-Rangel and Peña Ramos had previously been apprehended by border patrol, with Peña Ramos being caught and released by border patrol only three weeks before the murder.
CCTV footage showed Martinez-Rangel and Peña Ramos in Houston at a local restaurant on June 16.
As CNN reported:
The men left on foot and were later seen meeting and talking with Jocelyn, Hope said, before all three walked to a convenience store.
A few minutes later, Hope said, they went to a bridge. Prosecutors allege the men killed Jocelyn and threw her body in the bayou.
Jocelyn’s body was found along West Rankin Road in a shallow creek in north Houston early in the morning of June 17, authorities have said.
The 12-year-old was strangled to death, according to the medical examiner, the Associated Press reported.
In the Trump campaign’s X video, Nungaray ultimately blamed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for the death of Jocelyn.
“Kamala Harris was in charge of Immigration and our borders,” the bereaved mother said:
If we had better border policies and not open borders, and not these catch-and-release policies, I truly believe this all could have been prevented. Under her being vice president of this country, my daughter’s life was ripped away from her. She had her entire life ahead of her.
My daughter is six feet in the ground based off of policies that she was allowed to keep. Kamala Harris did have one job, and she not only failed me – not me, she failed my daughter. She failed Jocelyn. She was only 12.
The video continued as Nungaray described Trump’s reaction and outreach to the family after the murder.
“President Trump reached out, and gave me his sincerest condolences as not a former president but as a father, someone who cares,” Nungaray said. “I believe Donald Trump needs to be back in office. I can at least know that my next child will be safe in this country.”
On October 25, Nungaray was present with Trump during his rally at an airport hangar in Austin, Texas.
“We will never forget Jocelyn. We’re not going to, we have all seen her picture,” Trump said at the rally. “She’s had a big impact, Alexis, you know that, right? She’s had a big impact.”
Nungaray has yet to hear from President Joe Biden or Vice-President Harris.
