Trump Victory Sparks Increased Demand for Abortion Drugs. Expert Warns It May Not Just Be Women.

Former President Donald Trump is now president-elect, and some women are responding by hoarding abortion drugs.

Women who are pro-abortion are using their social media platforms to tell others that they need to stock up on Plan B, the morning after pill, and other forms of so-called “emergency contraception” before Trump takes office in January. One user stated on TikTok that women should buy boxes of Plan B to keep “on deck until the next election.” A woman responded on X, stating, “[I]’m so seriously about to buy a box per paycheck until [I] can’t anymore.”

According to The Washington Post, several big-name pro-abortion organizations have been receiving “higher-than-normal” numbers of women seeking chemical abortion since the election. Among them is Aid Access, which is considered to be one of the largest abortion pill suppliers. They have reportedly received “10,000 requests for the medication in the 24 hours after the election was called for the Republican nominee early Wednesday — roughly 17 times the 600 that the organization typically gets in a day.”

Additionally, the telehealth nonprofit that prescribes abortion drugs, Just the Pill, claimed “22 of its 125 orders from Wednesday through Friday were from people who are not pregnant.” Plan C is another source for chemical abortion, and they’ve “reported receiving 82,200 visitors to its website on Wednesday, compared with approximately 4,000 or 4,500 visitors per day leading up to the election.” However, the increased demand is not exclusively geared toward birth control and abortion pills.

On Wednesday, the abortion giant Planned Parenthood announced that the amount of scheduled vasectomy appointments increased by 1,200%, with a 760% rise for IUD appointments. Winx Health also shared that their sales went up significantly. Co-director of Plan C Elisa Wells feels that part of the significant uptick in women seeking abortion-related information has to do with their “fears” that the Trump administration will put an end to the mailing of abortion drugs — a process numerous experts have deemed highly unsafe for women. But allegedly, “people feel extremely, understandably concerned about their ability to get the care that they need,” said Brittany Fonteno, president of the National Abortion Federation. “People are listening, they understand that there is a real, credible threat to abortion access. They’re scared, they’re confused, but they want to be prepared.”

In addition to abortion pills, it seems people who identify as transgender are stocking up on puberty blockers due to similar concerns of not being able to access them once Trump takes office. According to LGBTQ Nation, “Trans people face the same threat in maintaining their healthcare in an era more overtly hostile to their existence.” The outlet added, “Telehealth site QueerDoc has seen a big influx of inquiries from trans patients concerned about their access to estrogen, testosterone and hormone-blocking drugs. Dr. Crystal Beal, who runs the site, said the service has been advising patients to stock up … as state law and their insurance coverage allowed.”

In comments regarding the situation, Mary Szoch, director of Family Research Council’s Center for Human Dignity, shared with The Washington Stand: “According to MSN news, Aid Access — one of the largest suppliers of mifepristone — received 10,000 requests for the abortion drug in the 24 hours after the election was called for President Trump.” However, according to Szoch, there’s more to the story than what meets the eye. “MSN’s headline said, ‘Women stockpile abortion pills before Trump term.’ It seems awfully presumptuous of MSN news to report that women were stockpiling these pills [since] the removal of the in-person dispensing requirement by the FDA made it so that any trafficker, any abusive boyfriend or husband, anyone who wants to force a woman to take an abortion drug against her will and without her knowledge.”

Even more notable, as Szoch explained, is how many of these offenders are able “to profit off women who are frightened and scared. Anyone could stockpile abortion drugs and later either force women to take them or sell them to women for a major profit.” According to Szoch, “One thing is clear: those who are profiting from abortions are afraid that because the pro-abortion extremist Kamala Harris was not elected, safety regulations that help protect mothers from the dangers of mifepristone could be reinstated.”

“Hopefully,” she concluded, “whomever is stockpiling these drugs will be stopped from harming both mothers and their children.”

Where did this idea that Trump and Republicans want to ban birth control come from?

I’ve never heard anyone say they want to ban birth control.

I’ve heard Democrats say Republicans want to do this. But never heard Republicans say they plan to do this.

They lie all the time.

They project what they would do unto others.

The rat party is just lying as usual. Donald Trump already said he would veto a bill promising a national abortion ban should it come across the Resolute desk.
