A mixed verdict was returned Tuesday by a Miami jury in NFL star Tyreek Hill’s assault and battery civil trial against him, finding the former Miami Dolphin and Kansas City Chief liable for two counts of battery and not liable for the remaining eight claims alleged by Lakeeta Vaccaro, Hill’s estranged wife.
Vaccaro was awarded $500,000 by the jury in compensatory damages; however, she was denied her punitive damage claims. (RELATED: Bears’ Montez Sweat Suspended Two Games Without Pay After Violating NFL Policy On PEDs)
Hill, looking relieved, gave a hug to one of his lawyers, Christi Bright, while the verdict was being read. As he exited the courtroom, Hill smiled and shook hands with his attorneys.
“Mr. Hill was very pleased that he was able to get his story out and to be able to tell the world what he’s not been able to speak about,” said Bright while speaking with the media, per ESPN. “He’s very grateful.”

The civil trial, which lasted a week, included several allegations of abuse — both physical and verbal — done by Hill toward Vaccaro.
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Hill, spoke with a local news station and said that the free agent’s current playing situation is “fluid” and “a deal could happen any time.” Recently, an NFL spokesperson told ESPN that the allegations against Hill are “under review of the personal conduct policy.”
