Despicable: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is letting Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide Alice Wairimu Nderitu’s contract lapse, and the reason is obviously her refusal to smear Israel’s war against Hamas as “genocide.”
Nderitu is clear: It’s not genocide unless it’s a massacre with intent to eliminate an ethnic group.
That simply doesn’t describe the IDF’s operations in Gaza, which go to great lengths to minimize civilian casualties.
But Guterres, the UN bureaucracy and all too many UN member states are eager to pretend otherwise; The sec-gen (a Portuguese socialist) and High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk (who refuses to call Hamas a terrorist organization) have been blasting the Jewish state for more than a year.
It’s obvious Guterres let Nderitu go so he can hire a genocide “expert” who’ll play along.
One more task for President-elect Donald Trump: Let the United Nations know Guterres and all his minions need to go when his term expires next year, or US funding for the whole vile bureaucracy will end, too.
