The United States Men's National Team's (USMNT) social media team is taking fire from fans after a clip of Christian Pulisic's celebration, mimicking President-elect Donald Trump, was altered.
During the USMNT's CONCACAF National League quarterfinal matchup against Jamaica, Pulisic scored the opening goal in the 13th minute, sending fans and his teammates into a frenzy.
For his celebration, the 26-year-old did his version of Trump's 'Y.M.C.A.' dance, which featured him slowly bending over while pumping his fists.
The original clip showed Pulisic doing the dance after the goal, which circulated on social media.
However, when the USMNT's social media accounts reposted the goal, Pulisic's dance was absent, with the video ending just before his dance, which fans noted and criticized with many curious why the celebration was omitted.
"Oh come on!" one fan began. "We all saw the Trump YMCA dance! Don't cut that off like that! That is some BS if I ever saw it." Another wrote: "Intentionally cutting off the video before his celebration?" By all accounts, many fans were upset that Pulisic's dance was cut off in the highlight clip.
Conservative outlets also caught wind of Pulisic's celebration. Outkick founder Clay Travis posted a message on X celebrating the USMNT's captain for doing the dance, stating: "Christian Pulisic scored for the US men's soccer team and broke out the Trump dance. We are so ------- back."
Pulisic is just the latest professional athlete to do their version of Trump's dance in recent weeks. Las Vegas Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers also did the dance after catching a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Gardner Minshew, cutting the Miami Dolphins' lead to five, 17-12.
When Bowers was asked by USA TODAY's Safid Deen about the dance, the 21-year-old claimed he did the dance because he saw it circulating on social media. "I've seen everyone do it," Bowers said after the game. "I watched the UFC fight last night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC so I saw it, and thought it was cool."
