CV NEWS FEED // Following another day in which his clinical condition has stayed stable, Pope Francis “slept well throughout the night” at Gemelli Hospital, the Holy See Press Office reported Monday morning in Rome, according to Vatican News.

The Sunday, March 2, evening report from the Vatican said that the pontiff has needed supplemental high-flow oxygenation, not non-invasive mechanical ventilation, and he has no fever.

“Given the complexity of the clinical picture, the prognosis remains guarded,” the press office’s report said, according to Vatican News.

There have been no signs that the bronchospasm the pope experienced Feb. 28 has directly caused additional health problems, but it is still possible that his condition could decline, Vatican News reported. The pope has been experiencing respiratory challenges, including bilateral pneumonia, since Feb. 14.

The pope attended Mass Sunday morning with the people who have been caring for him at the hospital prior to switching back and forth from resting and praying, the press office’s Sunday evening report said, according to Vatican News.

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Service of Charity, led the rosary for the pope at St. Peter’s Square on March 2.
