Adrien Brody didn’t know what to do with his gum while accepting his Oscar for best actor on Sunday — so he tossed it to his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman.
The “Brutalist” star realized he was still chewing as he walked up the stairs to the stage and blew kisses to the awards show’s audience.
Brody, 52, paused, reached into his mouth and removed the gum while turning back toward his seat.
While the actor seemed unsure what to do with it, Chapman, 48, rushed forward with her hands extended — but seemingly missed when her partner lobbed the gum her way.
Viewers blasted Brody for the “disrespect” via X.
One social media user wrote, “You’ve just won the Oscar; why not put that gum in the pocket of the tux?”
Another told Chapman she was “0 for 2 in picking good men,” referencing her ex-husband, disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.
Some fans, however, urged Brody to “marry” Chapman and noted that the couple “must be in love.”
Brody’s subsequent speech lasted five minutes, with the “Succession” alum making headlines for refusing to get offstage when the cut-off music played.
In his speech, Brody praised Chapman as an “amazing” partner who “not only reinvigorated [his] own self-worth but [his] sense of value and [his] values.”
The duo, who have been publicly dating since 2020, were all smiles on the red carpet earlier that evening.
Chapman wore a strapless black velvet gown, while Brody rocked a tuxedo.
The “Blonde” star shared a steamy kiss with Halle Berry in front of his girlfriend during a chat with “Access Hollywood,” as a way of recreating their 2003 onstage moment.
At the time, Brody kissed Berry, 58, while accepting the best actor award for his role in “The Pianist.”
The actress apologized to Chapman over the weekend and said she had to smooch Brody after “waiting [two decades] to get him on a red carpet and slap one on.”
