What was the motive behind 9/11 attack, and what has cost been to US?

(LifeSiteNews) — As America commemorates the 25^th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack upon its shores in history, which has propelled the nation into a series of near-constant war in the Middle East and elsewhere, the mind naturally seeks to understand the relevant causes for such a horrific act of even suicidal hatred upon civilians.

Those old enough to remember this event will recall the answers the citizenry were provided at the time that seemed to even remain the official framing of the question up until today.

Right off the bat, during a joint session of Congress on September 20, 2001, President George W. Bush proposed to Americans exactly why several Middle Eastern men would sacrifice their lives executing a suicide attack in order to kill thousands of civilians. He said at the time:

Americans are asking, why do they hate us? They hate what we see right here in this chamber — a democratically elected government. Their leaders are self-appointed. They hate our freedoms — our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.

During a news conference on October 11, 2001, Bush further explained he was “amazed” at such hatred of America “because I know how good we are.” Others blamed degenerate leftists, especially those attempting to export a “decadent American culture” through Hollywood and other institutions.

But rarely covered in the news were the words of the attackers themselves on this question, even when such a testimony was provided in an official court document.

One such example came from a testimony of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was dubbed the apparent “mastermind” of the 9/11 attack itself. A Pakistani raised in Kuwait, Mohammed studied mechanical engineering in the United States but his motive to recruit attackers and plan the attack had nothing to do with his student years in the country.

Instead, in a court document officially reporting his statements under interrogation, Mohammed did not testify that the hijackers were motivated to commit this atrocity due to the American system of government, the exporting of degenerate Hollywood movies, or because Americans were so “good,” but instead, it was America’s support for Israel that was the primary motivation for the attack.

Since the federal government prohibited Mohammed from entering the courtroom for the 2006 Zacarias Moussaoui trial due to “national security reasons,” they produced a document as a substitute for his testimony instructing the jury that his statements therein “were made under circumstances designed to elicit truthful statements from the witness.”

With regard to this question, the document states that a primary motivation for the attack was to bring to an end the “atrocities” that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people:

Sheikh Mohammed said that the purpose of the attack on the Twin Towers was to ‘wake the American people up.’ Sheikh Mohammed said that if the target would have been strictly military or government, the American people would not focus on the atrocities that America is committing by supporting Israel against the Palestinian people and America’s self-serving foreign policy that corrupts Arab governments and leads to further exploitation of the Arab/Muslim peoples (my emphasis).

Some alternative commentators have observed how rarely these statements have been accurately reported in the mainstream media depriving the American people of understanding something so newsworthy as the motive behind the deadliest terrorist attack on their soil which propelled their nation into virtually constant wars in the Middle East for the past quarter century.

These escapades have levied an incalculable cost in blood, treasure, broken families, minds, and even souls upon the American people, not to mention the more than 1.3 million lives lost in the Middle East.

Additionally, these wars of aggression destroyed ancient Christian communities in Iraq and Syria. In May 2014, Patriarch Louis Raphaël I Sako, the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq, declared, “We are a ruined church … 1,400 years of Islam could not uproot us from our land and our churches, while the policies of the West (have) scattered us and distributed us all around the world.”

More recently, the continued “atrocities that America is committing by supporting Israel against the Palestinian people” include an ongoing genocide that has directly killed over 73,000 people, including more than 22,000 children.

While no act of terrorism can ever be excused according to the God’s objective moral law, Americans may wish to consider on this 25^th anniversary if there are any benefits to ongoing support for Israel, especially which in even any remote fashion compare with the incalculable cost.
