BOISE, ID — A great honor was awarded in a humble family home this week as a wife bestowed a prestigious medal of honor on her husband after he heroically rose to the occasion and loaded the dishwasher.

Larry Parson was overcome with pride as he accepted the highest accolade awarded to members of the household, having gone above and beyond the call to vaguely rinse the family's dishes and haphazardly place them in the dishwasher.

"This is a historic day," said Larry's wife, Donna, as she placed the medal around his neck. "Never in the history of this household has a man stepped up to show such grit and fortitude. Larry has accomplished something few ever thought possible, and for that he deserves recognition. May our children tell their children of what you have done this day, Larry."

Parson fought back tears while humbly soaking in the important moment. "I'd like to dedicate this to all the men who came before me and made this possible," he said. "It wasn't easy. To be honest, it was uncharted territory for me. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I had to push forward. There were so many dishes… I don't know how I did it. I hope when people look back on this day, I will just be remembered as a man who loved his family enough to load the dishwasher that one time."

At publishing time, Donna had rebuffed Larry's proposal to have a life-sized bronze statue of the event erected in front of the family's home.
