In an interview with Vice-President Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff, former White House Press Secretary for President Biden and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki effused over "how your role has reshaped the perception of masculinity. I'm not sure you planned on that, but you are an incredibly supportive spouse. Has that been an evolution for you? Do you think that's part of the role you might play as First Gentleman?"

Emhoff replied "I've said many times when we lift up women, we support women whether it's pay equity, childcare, family leave, and all of these issues in this post-Dobbs hellscape. Women should not have less rights and be treated differently. That's not the American way."

CNN's Dana Bash suggested "Doug Emhoff is not as masculine as Republican candidates. He can speak to men out there who might not be the sort of testosterone-laden, gun-toting kind of guys and say that it's okay in 2024 to be a man comfortable in his own skin who can vote for a woman like Vice-President Harris."

Whether Emhoff is perfectly positioned as a gallant progressive supporter of women may be on shaky ground. The emergence of an accusation that at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France, Emhoff was so incensed that his date was flirting with other men that he "slapped her so hard that she spun around." In addition, Emhoff's first marriage ended in divorce after he impregnated his child's nanny. An Emhoff spokesperson insisted "any suggestion that he has ever mistreated a woman is false."

As a senator, Harris was a strong advocate of the position that "women who say they were abused should be believed." In this case, she pointed out that "even if the claimed assault and battery charge is true, from my legal training I know two things. First, the incident occurred in a foreign jurisdiction. And second, the statute of limitations for the purported crime had to have expired by now. This election shouldn't be burdened by what has been. It is about the future we want for our country. I want joy and unity. Voters who agree should vote for me."

"how your role has reshaped the perception of masculinity."

Well, it certainly has reshaped my perception of his masculinity!

From banging the babysitter to simping for Kamala.

My estimation of Emhoff as a man has just plummeted.

Regards,

Says Doug: Yeah, I believe strongly in lifting women up. Especially when I give them a hard slap when they get flirty with other men. But, hey, we all do it huh? And a little money to get them to shut up never hurt anyone did it? I mean, other than Trump.
