Xbox has officially unveiled the Xbox Nano Controller, a miniature version of its standard controller designed for portability, younger players, and those with smaller hands.

Announced on October 14, the new controller is Xbox’s smallest yet, measuring just over five inches long and weighing less than most modern smartphones.

Despite its compact size, the Nano retains the familiar Xbox controller layout, with Microsoft positioning it as an affordable option for gaming at home or on the go.

Xbox Nano Controller packs full controls into a tiny design

The Xbox Nano Controller measures a little over five inches in length and weighs just 3.5 ounces, making it significantly smaller and lighter than a traditional Xbox controller.

Microsoft says the device includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs, allowing players to access the same basic controls found on its larger controllers.

It also features a rechargeable battery and a programmable Action Button that can be customized for shortcuts, including taking screenshots and recording gameplay.

The controller supports both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to connect to a range of compatible devices.

Microsoft highlighted games such as Minecraft Dungeons II, which supports up to four players in local or online co-op, as examples of where the smaller controller could be useful.

The company also pointed to Forza Horizon 6 as an option for players looking to take their gaming experience beyond the living room.

Xbox Nano Controller price and release date

The Xbox Nano Controller costs $49.99, with pre-orders opening on October 14 through Microsoft’s official website.

The controller will launch in November across multiple markets, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, and several European countries. Additional regions will follow, although Microsoft has not announced specific dates.

Xbox is also partnering with Samsung and Meta on special holiday promotions in the US.

Customers purchasing select Samsung TVs will be eligible for an offer that includes an Xbox Nano Controller and two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers.

A similar promotion will be available with Meta Quest purchases, bundling the controller with a two-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription for new members.

Both promotions are planned for the holiday season, although Microsoft has not provided exact launch dates or the full list of eligible devices.
