Viewers of a popular influencer's YouTube had an unpleasant shock while watching one of her vlogs when her husband interrupted the broadcast to announce she had died.

What began as a routine tutorial by popular crafts creator, Donna Jordan, was shockingly cut short when her husband Matt announced she had 'unfortunately passed away'.

While filming at the couple's quilt shop in Oregon, Matt, 67, was visibly emotional as he abruptly announced that 'this video will end right here', because 'on March 14th at about 4am in the morning Donna passed away'.

Speaking to Donna's 706,000 subscribers, the father-of-four poured his heart out as he revealed that his 'great wife' was unable to complete the video after succumbing to a mystery illness.

Many fans were understandably 'shocked' by the post, while others grieved her loss and said she would be 'deeply missed'.

Under a video titled 'Celebration Of Life: Donna Jordan', a heartbreaking post read: 'Donna's last video. We are so thankful to all of you.

'Donna, her husband Matt, and her son James were all so happy to share our joy for quilting with everyone for so many years. Thank you to everyone for watching :)'.

In the clip, Donna could be seen at the couple's Jordan Fabrics Quilt Shop filming a routine session on how to make the tailor made fabric.

Donna Jordan's husband Matt Jordan (pictured) appeared in her YouTube video to say she had passed away following a battle with a mystery illness

This episode featured a tutorial on how to design drop diamonds, a specific technique that requires fabric strips to be cut and sewn together in order to achieve a desired pattern.

Dressed in a blue and white patterned blouse and wearing what appeared to be a blonde wig, Donna explained enthusiastically: 'Today I'd like to show you how to make a quilt called drop diamonds.'

The crafts expert - who had amassed 50 years in the business - displayed two neatly folded red quilts that she would be using for the day's session, before taking a large pair of fabric scissors and cutting away its packaging.

Throughout much of the video she talked her fans through the process, explaining how to administer the pattern, as well as tips on colours, cutting and sizing.

But viewers following along would soon be jolted by the lightning news that the woman on their screen was sadly no more.

About 12 minutes into the guide, the video was abruptly cut to reveal the face of a man standing in front of the very same background Donna was seen in just seconds ago.

'Hi everyone, I'm Matt Jordan and this video will end right here' he said.

'Unfortunately on March 14th at about 4am in the morning Donna passed away' he tragically announced.

In a heartwarming speech, Matt revealed that he met his wife when they were both 16, and that she was 'passionate' about making quilts

Tears filled his eyes as he divulged that Donna had been 'battling an illness for a few years' which became devastatingly acute over the last three months.

Matt said Donna needed more medical treatments as a result, but sadly they were unable to save her.

He then told the heartwarming love story of when the pair met decades ago, when his wife was already a quilt connoisseur in the making.

'When I met Donna, I was 16 years old and she was 16 years old, and she was already making quilts... I'm 67 now - I don't know how long that is, I can't count that high' he joked.

'But she's been making quilts the whole time and we've been working on our crafts of fabric and quilting and quilts for about 50 years'.

Matt could barely hold back tears as he praised his 'great wife' and her inspiring business acumen.

'I just want to tell you that Donna loved what she did - she couldn't believe that she could make money making quilts and cutting quilts and teaching people how to do them.

'It was such a blessing to her and I hope that it was a blessing to you all.

'We will miss her greatly here... for me she was a great wife and a great business partner... a great mother'.

He then spoke on his pride for his family, and how they successfully created a 'family business' which had thrived with the efforts of their four 'accomplished' children - Michelle, Monica James and Jordan.

A sweet comment left by their son, James, told how his mom was a 'caring, funny person' and that her quilting empire grew from humble beginnings.

'We love you all so much, thanks for watching and sharing quilting with us for so many years' it read.

'I filmed my mom on a cell phone for eight plus years and truly enjoyed spending every minute with her.

'She was such a caring, funny person full of joy and had such a passion for quilting. We loved sharing everything with all of you. Donna's Son, James'.

Thousands of tributes poured in for Donna, including comments about her admirable design talent.

'I cried for a lady I never met but felt like I knew from the many tutorials I have watched. My sympathy to the Jordan family. She will be deeply missed' said one person.

Another fan wrote: 'This was such a shock! I feel like I've lost my best friend in quilting! Donna was such a blessing and a wonderful teacher. She enabled me to begin my quilting journey for real back in 2014. She made me realize I could do it without fear of doing it wrong. I love you, Donna, and will miss your smiling face and happy character so very much! Rest in peace. May God bless and keep your family in His wonderfully caring arms'.

Also taken aback by the video, someone else wrote: 'What began as happiness to see a new Donna tutorial quickly turned to sadness. Thank you, Matt for sharing your beautiful Donna tribute with us. She was a joy to watch, an inspiration and wonderful teacher. I am so sorry for you and your family's loss and for everyone who shared her passion. Peace to you'.

Donna's detailed video tutorials earned her a large following over the years, as well as financial success through their family-run quilts store, 'Jordan Fabrics Quilt Shop' - which she ran with a team of 18 people, including her husband and two children, James and Jordan'.
