Donald Trump is not even president yet, and the tide is already turning at Facebook’s parent company, Meta.

Looking jacked and relaxed, a ‘fro’d out Mark Zuckerberg sat down for the Big Tech equivalent of a fireside chat with America.

Here is the full video from Mark Zuckerberg announcing the end of censorship and misinformation policies.

I highly recommend you watch all of it as tonally it is one of the biggest indications of “elections have consequences” I have ever seen pic.twitter.com/aYpkxrTqWe

It’s worth watching the full five minute video to fully grasp just how seismic this cultural shift is. But I’ll give you the breakdown:

“Hey everyone,” Zuck began, “I want to talk about something important today, because it’s time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram.”

“Government and legacy media have pushed to censor more and more” and “a lot of this is clearly political,” he continued. “Fact checkers have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they created, especially in the U.S.”

Trump’s election, on the other hand, “feels like a cultural tipping point towards once again prioritizing free speech.”

So Zuck is falling in line:  “We’re going to get rid of fact checkers, and replace them with Community Notes, similar to X,” he pledged.

But wait, there’s more:  Facebook will get rid of “restrictions” on topics like “immigration” and “gender” that are “out of touch with mainstream discourse,” and have be manipulatively used to “shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas.”

Instead, the platform will recalibrate its algorithms to focus on “illegal and high severity violations” like drugs, terrorism, sex trafficking. (Stream the Daily Caller documentary, ‘Rigged’, HERE)

This is an overdue recognition of the obvious, and a vindication of everything the Right’s been saying about censorship within Big Tech for the past several years. Government and media were the bad actors all along, weaponizing empathy for others along with the threat of federal regulation to force tech companies into doing their work that the First Amendment precludes. The “objective” fact-checkers were nothing more than far-left hacks, poisoning the body politic in the name of truth and justice. Open discourse doesn’t mean “content moderation” — the usual dog whistle that Zuckerberg now abandons for the more accurate term, “censorship” — and the correct answer to social discord is always more speech.

This is an epic indictment of all the forces of censorship in America. Zuckerberg was their guy, he had forsaken his earlier commitment to free expression to become the enforcement arm of the government’s unofficial “disinformation” bureau. His nearly unlimited reach and resources would ensure progressives’ thousand year reich. Now that he’s turned, there’s no more credible person to reveal who these nefarious actors really are. He pulled back the veil in under five minutes.

Sure, you can call him a coward; he probably is. He’s only changing his tune because it’s now safer to do so, and there’s surely some carrots and sticks being employed behind the scenes with the incoming Trump administration. With the embrace of X-style Community Notes, Elon Musk likely laid on some personal charm as well. But the fact remains: Before the woke mind virus took control, before he was multibillionaire with global influence, Zuckerberg was idealistic kid who believed in creating a platform where open discourse could flourish. All Americans, liberal or conservative, should be proud that he’s eventually found his way home. Let’s just hope he learned his lesson.
