A British Airways flight from Hong Kong to London has been cancelled despite Heathrow Airport resuming operations following a major power outage, while five Cathay Pacific flights are departing the city for the UK as planned.

A day after a fire at a nearby electrical substation knocked out its power supply and completely shut it down, the UK air hub said early on Saturday that it was running all flights as scheduled, including additional services to support with reconnecting passengers and repositioning aircraft. The airport handles more than 200,000 passengers a day on average.

But the British Airways’ BA 032 London-bound flight was cancelled at 10.45pm, according to the website of the Hong Kong International Airport.

Six flights between Hong Kong and London are operated daily, with flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways running five and British Airways one.

The website showed that Cathay’s CX257 and CX239 departed on Saturday morning, while CX253, CX 251 and CX255 are scheduled to fly out at 1.30pm, 10.55pm and 11.35pm respectively.

For Saturday’s arrivals from Heathrow to Hong Kong, all six daily direct flights – CX 252, CX 238, CX 250, CX 256, CX 254, and BA 031 – were cancelled. No updates on the status of these flights have been released yet.
