Germany has vowed to do everything it can to aid Andy Burnham in rejoining the European Union and help reverse Brexit.

The vote to leave the EU achieved the largest democratic mandate for a single electoral choice in British history.

But it has come under considerable threat, with the Prime Minister telling GB News he could not "leave Britain out" of discussions about the future relationship with the EU and insisting he had to consider all options.

The German ambassador to the UK, Susanne Baumann, said Berlin would be a "partner" for a potential new relationship with the continent.

She told the Telegraph: "For us Germans, the UK is an integral part of Europe – its history, its present and its future.

"I was therefore glad to hear the Prime Minister speak about different options for the UK’s relationship with Europe.

"It is, of course, for the British people to decide how close they want that relationship to be. But let me be clear: in Germany you will always find a partner for setting the ambition as high as we can."

During a speech to Reform supporters in Doncaster yesterday, Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, said he was ready to "fight" Mr Burnham to ensure Britain stays out of the EU.

Mr Farage said: "He might just give me the biggest boost in my career ever."

Suella Braverman brands Andy Burnham's Brexit U-turn 'slap in the face to British patriots'

Suella Braverman has issued a damning verdict on Andy Burnham's suggestion that Britain could "go all the way" and rejoin the EU.

Speaking to Katherine Forster, GB News’ Chief Political Correspondent, on Chopper’s Political Podcast, Mrs Braverman said the Prime Minister has "never respected Brexit and he actually wants to undo it".

She slammed his words as "an affront to democracy" and "a slap in the face to British patriots".

Mrs Braverman, who also discussed her new book "Patriot: Empire, Betrayal & Hope" extensively in the podcast, is now Reform UK’s education, skills and equalities spokeswoman, and is still MP for Fareham and Waterlooville in Hampshire.

A former Tory big beast and Home Secretary under both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, she spectacularly defected to Reform in January, saying she felt like she’d "come home".

She explained: "When running for Parliament only a few months ago and seeking the support of the public, Andy Burnham was emphatic that no, he wouldn't reopen the Brexit debate and he would be respecting the referendum result. And we had to put that in the past and just move forward."
