Andy Burnham's block on early release for PC Andrew Harper's killers welcomed by Lib Dem MP

"So I'm glad that that matter has now been been put to rest. In terms of the indefinite sentences, many of these people have served their full sentence and many, many, many years beyond that, and I think most right thinking people would say that if somebody has served the full sentence they were given for a crime they committed, then it's right that they should be released from prison rather than somebody being released, having only served a third or a half of the time that they were sentenced for in the first place."
