A plane carrying six people has disappeared off the coast of Nantucket, leading the Coast Guard to launch a desperate air and surface search.
The Gulfstream G100 was flying from Bermuda to Boston at 12:41 a.m. Saturday and lost contact with the Federal Aviation Administration before it was scheduled to land at 1:25 a.m., according to the USCG and FlightAware.
The flight plummeted from 23,500 feet to 11,000 feet in just three minutes starting at 1:04 a.m., according to FlightAware data.
The final radar ping came at 1:23 a.m., shortly before they were scheduled to land, that data showed.
Latitude Air Ambulance appears to be the operator of the flight; the Ontario-based company did not respond to request for comment.
Two coast guard aircraft are currently conducting a search just south of Nantucket, according to FlightRadar24.
The FAA did not immediately respond to request for comment.
