The story of a taxi driver in China who was reunited with his twin brother and later reconnected with his biological parents after a passenger mistook him for a friend has captivated mainland social media.
The heartwarming reunion took place on January 4 in Dongfeng county, Guiyang in southern China’s Guizhou province, as Peng Dingyi, whose age is not known, was reunited with his family after 30 years apart.
In 2016, while driving a taxi in Guiyang, Peng was approached by a passenger who engaged him in conversation as if they were old friends.
Initially confused, Peng soon realised that the passenger had mistaken him for someone else, who later turned out to be his long-lost older twin brother.
Reflecting on their first meeting, Peng noted their remarkable resemblance, saying: “It felt like looking in a mirror; there is no need for a DNA test. Our resemblance is 90 per cent.”
Remarkably, not only do they share striking physical similarities, but their habits are almost identical. They even fell sick on the same day despite living apart.
