Chinese serial rapist Zhenhao Zou could face fresh charges after detectives uncovered evidence linking him to further alleged sexual offences.

The Metropolitan Police has submitted a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following reports from several women who came forward after a public appeal.

The file contains evidence relating to a number of alleged offences, including rape and administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence.

Five women contacted police following the appeal and have since made reports to detectives.

Officers are also investigating two further alleged rapes involving two women who have not yet been identified.

No decision has been made on whether Zou will face additional charges, with detectives continuing to liaise with the CPS while prosecutors consider the evidence.

Separate enquiries remain ongoing into allegations involving women who were allegedly sexually assaulted in China.

Zou, a 29-year-old Chinese PhD student, was jailed for life last year with a minimum term of 24 years after being convicted of raping 10 women in London and China.
