Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Agrees Him, AJ Brown Grew Apart Prior To Latter’s Departure To New England

The move to the Patriots makes a lot more sense now.

Following his trade to New England over the offseason, wide receiver A.J. Brown admitted in an interview that he and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t have the same bond they once had in their final season as teammates.

“There’s no surprise that it was talked about,” Hurts said in the GQ interview when questioned about him and Brown growing apart.

GQ continued to press him, asking him again whether the former duo had grown apart.

“I mean, clearly,” Hurts told GQ.

And there you have it. The worst-kept secret in Philadelphia is finally out in the open, even if Hurts looked like he’d rather sit through a root canal than utter those three words.

When Brown was shipped off to Foxborough, everyone tried to justify it through draft capital, cap gymnastics, roster retooling, blah, blah, blah. But the truth is much simpler: when your franchise quarterback and your WR1 can’t stand being in the same room, somebody has to pack their bags.

And from the looks of it, everything is going to work out perfectly.

Both guys get exactly what they want. Brown gets the spotlight and a fresh start with the AFC champion Patriots, while Hurts gets total command of Philadelphia’s offense without having to massage the ego of a diva receiver.
